Position Overview This summer, we are offering a 10-week compensated internship for rising senior undergraduate students a challenging, hands-on experience in the retail industry. Our RL Inspire Internship program is focused on three areas: immersion into RL company & culture, building your network and sharpening your functional skills.
Our intern program will provide you with an opportunity to work on strategic and complex assignments alongside our teams that will help enhance your competencies and skills in a fast-paced, dynamic, international corporate environment. Areas where Design/Brand/ Creative interns may be placed include:
- Accessories Design (Handbags, Accessories and small leather goods)
- Apparel Design (Menswear & Childrenswear);
PROGRAM OVERVIEW As an RL Inspire intern, you will ...
ONBOARD: Participate in our company in-person orientation with the entire intern class in New York City
LEARN: Take part in weekly RL Cultural and Company events including executive speaker events, DEI events and professional development trainings.
DEVELOP: Receive coaching and on-going feedback from your supervisor and Early Career Talent Team
COLLABORATE: Work closely with fellow interns on a cross functional group project where you will present to senior leadership at the end of the internship program.
GIVE BACK: Make a difference by volunteering as part of the Ralph Lauren Gives Back Program
HAVE FUN: Take advantage of social and networking activities as intern cohort
After successful completion of the program, full time entry-level offers may be extended to top candidates to join our early career rotational program upon graduation
Essential Duties & Responsibilities To be eligible for a US-based Ralph Lauren Internship position, applicants must:
- Attend college full-time in the United States and be entering your final semester or year of undergraduate studies. (Expected graduation date : December 2024 or June 2025)
- Authorized to work in the United States
- Work arrangement: 3 to 4 days in office work with ability to work remote atleast 1 day
- Available the entire duration of the 10-week internship and reside in commutable distance to one of our office locations (NY &NJ). A housing stipend will be provided to help with travel and accommodations
- Must submit a portfolio via a website link or pdf attachment (Please NO google drive links)
Experience, Skills & Knowledge Technical Skills: •Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe InDesign, XD
•Proficient in hand sketching, and Illustration
•Garment making and construction knowledge; ability to make physical mock ups
•Patternmaking, draping, and technical design skills
•Knowledge of handbag construction
•Design, color, and aesthetic sensibility
•Basic knowledge in Excel, Word and PowerPoint
•CAD skills
•3D Design Tools - Browzwear (V-Stitcher/Lotta), Shima Seiki (Apex 3), CLO3D, Optitex, Rhino, Keyshot, AutoDesk (Maya),
•Animation and video production skills are a plus
Additional desired skills •Strong organization and presentation skills with the ability to balance creativity and effectiveness
•Understanding and appreciation of the Ralph Lauren Aesthetic, brand heritage and retail industry
•Curious, desire to learn, innovative, forward thinking, strong interpersonal skills
