Our exhibitions are a primary point of connection with our audience and the museum has embarked on a plan to reimagine and update our permanent exhibit halls in an exciting and on-going manner. Your leadership, creative, organizational, and inter-personal skills can ensure the plan to 'transform' our exhibitions is delivered in a professional, enthusiastic, and positive manner.
The position will work with staff members and outside consultants to create exhibits that continue to transform and improve the museum's visitor experience. You will be part facilitator, designer, manager, accountant, scheduler and cheerleader! The end result will be high quality experiences that inspire an entire community - and that you will be proud of.
Primary Accountabilities - Reports to the VP Exhibitions and Operations.
- Supports exhibition design teams to enhance design and realize exhibitions.
- Build 3D digital models and renderings for design and presentation purposes. (SketchUp or similar 3D visualization programs)
- Assist with internal oversight to the exhibition 'transformation" initiative and enthusiastically communicates its objectives to a broad audience.
- Works with museum staff, scientific advisors and consultants/vendors to develop and deliver outcomes on-time and on-budget exhibitions.
- Works externally with exhibit designers, fabricators and installers to ensure their work is consistent with their contractual agreements and delivered in a timely, professional and responsible manner.
- Facilitates and orchestrates communication between staff, vendors and other individuals to ensure timely and conclusive discussions of crucial exhibit-related topics.
- Manages internal project schedules, budgets and related contracts in coordination with the museum's accounting and legal staff to support the delivery of on-time and on-budget projects.
- Works closely with the Museum's Learning, Science, and Finance Divisions.
- Anticipates and identifies potential problems an exhibit may pose related to security, safety, fire regulations, visitor accessibility or other activities occurring in the museum.
Qualifications Duties and Responsibilities - Assists in the selection process for external exhibit consultants.
- Manages relationships and communication with external exhibit consultants and regulatory officials.
- Coordinates the on-site exhibit installation and de-installation process with internal and external teams.
- Manages exhibit consultant contracts and payment requests.
- Manages internal exhibit budgets, schedules, communication and coordination to ensure a professional product and a collaborative process.
- Promotes and maintains the highest standards of safety, accessibility and quality.
- Promotes the value that museum visitors are the end-user and ultimate client.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Must be optimally protected against Covid-19 by being vaccinated and up to date on booster dose.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience - Minimum of 5 years experience in design, fabrication and installation of projects.
- Knowledge in Adobe Creative Suite.
- Knowledge in 3D design and render software.
- Portfolio of diverse and creative work.
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Architecture, Interiors Architecture preferred.
- Skilled at developing and maintaining schedules and budgets.
- Skilled at communicating verbally and in written and sketch formats.
- Thorough, diligent, ethical and detail oriented.
- Skilled using software required for project tracking and reporting.
- Skilled in providing creative solutions in challenging circumstances.
