We are looking for a Genetic Counselor to support both the internal Clinical Genetics team and the hereditary commercial/education needs of the company. This role is a split position, approximately 60-70% of the Genetic Counselor’s time will be spent supporting internal processes and 30-40% will be dedicated to working in the field. The Genetic Counselor will be Chicago-based or fully remote and the position requires ~30-40% travel.

Responsibilities:

Primary

• Clinically review and authorize hereditary germline testing orders and conduct outreach to sales team members and care teams to ensure the appropriateness of germline testing
• Serve as one of the Tempus clinical liaisons to any relevant germline reference laboratories and ensure that external clinical inquiries are answered in a timely manner
• Function as sales team support and a content expert with respect to Tempus hereditary test offerings, promoting exchange of clinical/scientific/technical information with providers in the field of clinical cancer genetics and other hereditary disorders
• Assist with new test development and refinement of current assays, including curation of assay and report content
• Serve as a liaison between the Tempus clinical genetics and commercial teams
• Utilize SalesForce to answer provider and internal Tempus team member clinical inquiries as they pertain to germline genetics

Secondary (support)

• Collaborate with and provide clinical support to cross-functional teams, including Medical Affairs, Clinical Science, Pathology, and others
• Attend conferences and other key meetings to provide clinical support and bring back summaries of high impact abstracts/posters/oral presentations
• Aid in the development of marketing materials, provider educational materials, and patient educational materials pertaining to germline genetic testing
• Conduct research studies related to Tempus germline products

Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

• Strong analytical and conceptual capabilities, interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate with clarity
• Public speaking skills and ability to effectively communicate relevant scientific topics and concepts
• Self-starter with an ownership mindset able to work and deliver on tight timelines
• Ability to travel (~40%)

Required Experience:

• MS or equivalent in Genetic Counseling required
• Board certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling (or the American Board of Medical Genetics)
• Experience with oncology required
• 3+ years of experience in a genetics profession preferred (e.g. clinical genetics, diagnostic laboratory, GC training program, etc.)
