Application requirements:

• Need to be able to operate in a non-signing capacity
• Hold experience working in SpEd programs/classrooms
• Required: Fluent in American Sign Language and able to translate with non-signing individuals
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree, or 48+ college credits
• Three References with one by a previous direct supervisor
• Background Check (we'll cover the cost of this!)
• TB risk assessment within 90 days

You’ll stand out if you have:

• Preferred: Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) Certification, American
• Consortium of Certified Interpreters (ACCI), Level 4 or above (formerly known as NAD certification),Certification by the Cued Speech TECUnit, Educational Sign Skills Evaluation - Interpreter (ESSE-I), Level 4 or above, or Educational Interpreter Performance Evaluation (EIPA), Level 4 or above.
• Experience working in K-12 schools
• Spent time in special education settings
• Any SpEd-specific training
• ABA experience (applied behavior analysis)

What you’ll do:

• Work closely with students, either 1:1 or across entire classrooms
• Build rapport and trust with the children in your care
• Foster a safe and nurturing learning environment
• Support resource teacher(s) in deliver IEP's (individual education plans)
• Follow direction from, and assist lead educators
• Translate in American Sign Language among signing and non-signing individuals
