Job Description
Acuren is currently seeking Rope Access Coaters for operations in Joliet, IL.
This position will be responsible for applying coatings using conventional, airless spray systems, brush and roll techniques. In addition, you will operate various types of equipment such as blast pots and spraying equipment and performing duties at heights required.
Responsibilities - Apply paint using brush and roll, conventional, airless, and plural systems
- Have knowledge of various painting methods and applications, including mixing paints to desired colors and consistencies
- Spray coatings with consistent millage
- Operate blasting pot in case of hose burst, gasket failure, switch malfunction, or other problems
- Perform painting, caulking, and sealing tasks
- Inspect surfaces and ensure compliance with safety regulations
- Demonstrate safe usage of hand tools and power tools appropriate for the job
- Identify and handle various materials used in the craft
- Interpret paint specifications and ensure compliance
- Demonstrate knowledge and skills in various methods of surface preparation according to Nace Standards
- Identify equipment problems and perform cleaning, repairs, and reassembly as required
- Read specifications and instructions to determine work requirements NACE|CIP (Coating Insp) or NACE|General Coatings certification would be an asset
- Perform required blasting and coating duties at heights.
Requirements - 5-10 years of experience Blaster/Painter is required
- IRATA or SPRAT Level I Certification required including proficiency in theoretical knowledge, equipment and rigging, maneuvers, climbing and rescue/hauling is a plus
- Valid drivers’ license preferred
- Required certification levels for specific projects
- Must have industrial refinery experience
- Must have mechanical industrial experience
- Preferred individual with the NCCER certification (Trained Individual)

Working Conditions - Outside environment conditions, in and near hazards to include proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, scaffolding and high places in excess of 100 feet, confined space and small areas, exposure to high heat, extreme cold, loud noise, fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation.
- Driving and travel by plane will be required.
PHYSICAL JOB REQUIREMENTS & DEMANDS: - Able to perform work such as climbing, balancing, stooping, bending, kneeling, bending, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, etc.
- Able to perform in extreme cold and extreme heat environmental conditions,
- Able to perform work at heights above 100ft.
- Able to perform work in small, enclosed quarters and confined space.
- Ability to work long hours up to 12 hours per day as needed.
- Ability to work in noisy or hazardous environments using personal protection.
