Job Description

A school-based social worker position is available within a K-12 educational setting in Detroit, MI, on a contract basis for the current school year (CSY). This role focuses on supporting students social and emotional well-being to enhance their academic success and overall development.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide counseling and support services to students facing social, emotional, or behavioral challenges.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and families to develop individualized intervention plans.
• Conduct assessments and facilitate referrals to outside agencies or resources when necessary.
• Promote a safe and inclusive school environment by advocating for student needs.
• Deliver crisis intervention and conflict resolution as needed.
• Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with school policies and regulations.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Licensed or certified social worker with relevant credentials to practice in a school setting.
• Experience working with children and adolescents in K-12 schools preferred.
• Strong understanding of social, emotional, and behavioral issues affecting students.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and interdisciplinary teams.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
