Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced, detail-oriented, and production-focused underwriting professional to join our dynamic team, specializing in the Public Company Management Liability Lines of Insurance. In this role, you will be responsible for soliciting and generating new business opportunities, conducting risk assessments, processing renewals, and determining appropriate coverage terms and pricing. You will work closely with brokers, agents, and clients to provide expert guidance on insurance options and ensure compliance with underwriting guidelines and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Marketing/Sales/Relationship Building: drive new business opportunities by cultivating relationships with new and existing trading partners. Work closely with brokers, agents, and clients to understand their insurance requirements, address inquiries, and build strong, long-lasting relationships.

2. Risk Assessment: Analyze insurance applications and supporting documentation to evaluate the risk exposure of Public Companies and meet with company management as needed (either in person or via video conference).

3. Policy Creation: Craft insurance policies and endorsements tailored to the specific needs of clients, ensuring coverage is comprehensive and aligned with underwriting guidelines.

4. Underwriting Compliance: Ensure all underwriting decisions adhere to company policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.

5. Market Research: Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitors, and emerging risks to provide strategic recommendations for product development and pricing adjustments.

6. Portfolio Management: Monitor the performance of the D&O Insurance Portfolio, making recommendations for changes in risk appetite, coverage enhancements, or other adjustments as necessary.

7. Documentation: Maintain accurate and organized underwriting records, including policy documents, endorsements, correspondence, and risk assessments.

8. Quality Assurance: Perform regular quality control checks on underwriting processes to maintain a high standard of accuracy and consistency.

 

Qualifications:

1. Bachelor's degree; professional insurance qualifications (e.g., CPCU, CIC, CRM, RPLU, CRIS) are a plus.

2. Minimum of two years of experience in underwriting, with a strong background in D&O Insurance preferred. Candidates with relevant experience in other related lines will be considered.

3. Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to assess complex risks and make sound underwriting decisions.

4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with clients and industry partners.

5. Proficiency in underwriting software, Microsoft Office, and other relevant tools.

6. Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and compliance.

7. Strong organizational and time management skills.

8. Occasional overnight travel required.

 

How to Apply:

This position is based in New York, NY. The job will require 2-3 days in the office per week. Remote candidates will also be considered depending on experience.

Salary range is $100,000-$150,000 per year plus bonus with a range of 10 – 20%, commensurate with experience. Other benefits available include health, vision, and dental insurance, and a 401(k) plan.
