VIDEO PRODUCTION - PRE-PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM

Mills James is seeking a dynamic person to join our Pre-Professional Program in V ideo Production , This oppourtinty is ideal for those looking to jumpstart their career in this dynamic field.

What You Will Learn:

This entry-level position allows you to directly collaborate with experienced video professionals at Mills James in a variety of areas such as video, lighting, audio, stagecraft, and content creation. As part of our team, you'll acquire practical skills in visual storytelling and technical know-how using the latest equipment, while contributing to diverse projects that tell engaging stories.

The Mills James Pre-Professional Program provides recent college graduates an opportunity to obtain on-the-job work experience in preparation for a career in the communications and production industry. During the six-month session, often called the "audition" period, you will be expected to work 30-40 hours per week. Your skill sets need not cover the full range required for full-time associates. Displaying initiative and a willingness to learn will help you get the most out of your time in the program and add to your value in the marketplace.

At the sole discretion of Mills James, Pre-Pro associates who demonstrate outstanding skills and qualities may be offered the opportunity to continue in the program for a second six-month session. However, an individual's participation in the program will not extend beyond one year or guarantee a full-time position.

Job Responsibilities:

• Assist in setting up and dismantling production equipment including cameras, lighting, and audio devices.
• Handle operation of video cameras, lighting, audio equipment, and related tools.
• Engage in location scouting and offer creative input for shoots.
• Support capturing of high-quality video and still photography during events and productions.
• Learn and practice proper care of video equipment.
• Assist in quality control and other tasks in the local warehouse.
• Manage digital assets for efficient access and archiving.
• Collaborate with and follow directions from senior videographers and the Studio Manager.
• Meet project deadlines and manage time effectively during shoots.
• Maintain a positive, learning-focused attitude in a collaborative, fast-paced setting.
• Ensure video content adheres to Mills James' brand and quality standards.
• Observe on-set safety and confidentiality protocols.
• Provide logistical support including preparing call sheets, managing schedules, and liaising with other departments.
• Undertake additional duties as needed.

Job Requirements:

• Knowledge in operating video recording tools (cameras, drones, lighting, sound devices).
• Basic skills in video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, DaVinci Resolve).
• Creative eye for shot composition and storytelling.
• Experience with live streaming is a plus.
• Availability for flexible working hours, including evenings and weekends.
• Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Team player who can also work independently.
• Actively seek out opportunities for learning and growth, beyond assigned tasks, demonstrating initiative as a self-starter in the field.
• Eagerness to learn and take direction from senior trsm.
• Comfort in a deadline-oriented, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communication skills.
• Physical capability to handle and transport production equipment.
• Understanding of social media dynamics for video content.
• Show interest in staying current with video production trends and technologies.
• Preference for recent graduates in a related field.
• Portfolio or reel of past video projects (personal, academic, professional) is advantageous.
• Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation for on-location work.
